Riyan Jain
Creator & Founder, DermiDetect

Riyan is a junior at Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) in Aurora, where he conducts research and develops digital tools in computational biology and applied computer science. He created an AI-driven early prediction tool for Type 2 Diabetes, as well as an AI-powered skin cancer detection app called DermiDetectAI—both of which have been recognized by the U.S. Congress and honored with the Stephanie Pace Marshall Student Innovation grant.

Currently, Riyan conducts research at Northwestern University, investigating a novel method that uses Non-SDS electrophoresis to analyze the structural features of amyloid-β oligomers (AβOs). This work aims to inform the development of targeted therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.

At IMSA, Riyan serves as co-captain of the Debate Club. Outside of school, he is a violinist in IMSA’s Strolling Strings orchestra, performing at various community venues such as retirement homes. Additionally, he is the founder and President of MedEqual, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing diversity in clinical trials and medical research throughout the United States.

Driven by his passion for science and service, Riyan aspires to become a physician-scientist, leveraging his research, technical acumen, and entrepreneurial spirit to improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.
